Shri S.B.S. Tyagi, IPS (Retd.) is an accomplished public servant, security strategist, mentor, and governance expert whose career reflects excellence, integrity, and dedication to nation-building.
A Gold Medalist in Physics and Best Graduate of Patna University, he began his professional journey as a Lecturer in Physics before joining public service in 1984. He later became an IPS officer of the AGMUT Cadre and served in numerous leadership positions across Delhi Police and Andaman & Nicobar Islands Police.
His distinguished assignments included Prime Minister's Security, Deputy Commissioner of Police (VVIP Traffic), Deputy Commissioner of Police at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Superintendent of Police South Andaman, DCP Crime & Railways, Additional Commissioner of Police (Security & Traffic), and ultimately Joint Commissioner of Police, Delhi.
During his tenure at Rashtrapati Bhavan, he worked closely with President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and President Pratibha Patil and was responsible for some of India's most sensitive security operations and state visits. His contribution to national security earned him appreciation from U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

His responsibilities ranged from Prime Ministerial Security and VVIP Traffic Management to Crime Investigation, Railway Security, Public Order, and Presidential Protection. His ability to lead under pressure, make decisive judgments, and build efficient systems earned him the trust of senior leadership and the respect of colleagues across the policing ecosystem.
One of the defining chapters of his career was his service at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he worked closely with President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and President Pratibha Patil. Responsible for safeguarding India's highest constitutional office and coordinating security for global dignitaries, he witnessed leadership at the highest level.
