Biography

Leadership Narrative

Krishna Prasad Tenneti is an Indian parliamentarian, former senior police officer and public-policy leader whose career connects law enforcement, institutional reform and inclusive development.

A 1986-batch Indian Police Service officer, he served for more than 34 years across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. During his policing career, he held leadership responsibilities in district policing, anti-insurgency operations, criminal investigation, police training, computer services, railways and road safety. His work combined operational discipline with rehabilitation, technology-led reform and community-centred governance.

As Inspector General of Police, Computer Services, he contributed to the digitisation of 1,865 police stations in undivided Andhra Pradesh. He was also associated with the technical evaluation process for the national Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, designed to connect policing and criminal-information systems across India.

Beyond conventional policing, Krishna Prasad contributed to major infrastructure and public-private-partnership initiatives involving urban development, airports, ports, technology districts and convention infrastructure. His social-development work has focused on education, skilling, micro-enterprise creation, the economic empowerment of marginalised communities and the prevention of human trafficking.

He studied Mechanical Engineering at NIT Warangal, management at IIM Ahmedabad and law at Osmania University. He also authored Trafficking in Persons – Tip of the Iceberg, drawing attention to the relationship between educational exclusion, vulnerability and human trafficking.

In 2024, he was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, representing the Telugu Desam Party. He also serves on the Lok Sabha Panel of Chairpersons. His parliamentary interests include skill development, infrastructure, education, healthcare, road safety, technology, social justice and the development priorities of Bapatla.

His journey from the uniform to Parliament represents a leadership philosophy built around integrity, institutional accountability, technological innovation and inclusive opportunity.

Krishna Prasad Tenneti’s leadership journey spans the police station, the policy room and Parliament. A retired Indian Police Service officer with more than three decades of public-service experience, he has worked across law enforcement, criminal investigation, technology-led policing, infrastructure development, road safety and social empowerment. Today, as the Member of Parliament from Bapatla, he brings operational experience and institutional insight to democratic leadership—guided by the belief that authority earns respect only when it serves people with integrity, empathy and accountability.

Krishna Prasad Tenneti’s journey began with education, discipline and a deep respect for public service. Raised in a family of teachers, he learned early that leadership is not measured merely by status, but by the responsibility one accepts for the lives of others. He studied Mechanical Engineering at NIT Warangal and later pursued management education at IIM Ahmedabad, followed by legal studies. Although these qualifications could have taken him towards a conventional corporate career, he chose the Indian Police Service. That decision placed him on a path where leadership would be tested not in theory, but through difficult choices involving public safety, justice, conflict and human dignity.

As a 1986-batch IPS officer, Krishna Prasad served for more than 34 years across policing, criminal investigation, anti-insurgency operations, police training, railways and road safety. His career required him to confront violence and organised crime while also recognising that lasting security cannot be created through force alone. His approach combined firm law enforcement with rehabilitation, community engagement and social intervention. Whether dealing with complex investigations or communities affected by extremism and exploitation, his work reflected a central principle: the state must remain strong, but it must never become indifferent to the human conditions that produce conflict.

Krishna Prasad’s work eventually expanded beyond conventional policing into institution-building, technology, infrastructure and economic development. During his tenure in police computer services, he contributed to connecting 1,865 police stations across undivided Andhra Pradesh and was associated with the development of technology-led criminal-information systems. He also participated in major infrastructure initiatives connected with technology districts, airports, ports and public-private partnerships. Alongside these assignments, he worked on skill development, micro-enterprise creation, education and the economic empowerment of marginalised communities. These experiences strengthened his belief that meaningful leadership must build systems capable of continuing after the individual leader has moved on.

In 2024, Krishna Prasad Tenneti entered a new chapter of public service when he was elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh, representing the Telugu Desam Party. He also became a member of the Lok Sabha Panel of Chairpersons, placing him at the intersection of parliamentary procedure, political disagreement and democratic accountability. His parliamentary participation has included questions and interventions concerning infrastructure, education, healthcare, employment, skills, technology, road safety and social justice. The transition from senior police leadership to elected politics required a fundamental shift—from exercising executive authority to building consensus in a democratic institution. His continuing journey asks an important question: how can experience, discipline and power be transformed into public trust?

Thank you, sir.

Let us begin not with Parliament—
and not with the uniform—
but with the person who existed before both.

Technology & Institutional Reform

Lasting security is created when firm enforcement is matched by dignity, opportunity and rehabilitation.
